Article description

Next-generation performance riding helmet. Exquisite design. 360° ventilation. Unrivalled safety. Shell and metallic ring colour combinations, plus optional wide peak and MIPS. A stunning addition to the Charles Owen performance range, in celebration of our 110th anniversary. True innovation in style and technology makes Halo a real statement in the show ring. Comfort is prioritised with the unique 360° ventilation system under the halo ring and luxury padding. The unique Halo lattice harness has been designed to grip the occipital bone at the base of the skull, and self-adjusts to give a snug and secure fit for your ride. A wide peak (Halo Luxe) is available to improve vision in all-weathers - an order with Luxe is custom made and therefore cannot be returned. Three international safety standards (including PAS015) combined with MIPS technology only add to the confidence you will feel when riding in your Halo. Features: 360° ventilation system - additional ventilation on crown - exclusive brushed metallic ring - shell and halo ring colour combinations - slim and low-profile styling - flexzone peak with luxury underside padding - luxury washable padded headband with padded neck support - anti-microbial lining infused with silver ions - sustainably sourced leather harness - unique lattice self-adjusting harness grips the base of the head - premium metallic buckle - multiple safety standards - Made in the UK. You can upgrade your Halo with the MIPS Technologie: MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is an additional brain protection system: The MIPS system was invented in 1996 in Sweden by Hans von Holst, a neurosurgeon and Peter Halldin, a researcher from the Royal Institute of Technology. MIPS is designed to add protection against rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head, which is how most riders fall. Rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces from angular acceleration that both affect the brain and increase the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS’ added protection system has been proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by redirecting energies and forces otherwise transmitted to the brain. MIPS is an additional liner that is incorporated inside the riding helmet. This low-friction layer enables your head to move 10-15mm in all directions, which has been proven to reduce the rotational movement to the brain and therefore injury (particularly concussion and traumatic brain injury). The core idea behind MIPS is to simulate and enhance the brain’s own protection system, which uses the same principle of the brain being able to slide a little bit against the skull. MIPS is a brain protection system. Delivery MIPS: helmet plus MIPS plus headband. An order with MIPS is custom made and therefore cannot be returned.
